Nakia Reid is taking the reins of the LGBT Liaison role with the Metro Nashville Police Department, succeeding Catie Poole, who has been promoted to sergeant.
Reid has been with the department for four years. Her new role will include attending community meetings, being an advocate for both the MNPD and LGBTQ community members and assure that there are safe places to report hate crimes to the police department.
“This full-time liaison position is part of the police department’s continuing effort to build stronger relationships throughout the city while listening to ideas and concerns of our citizens,” Chief Anderson said when the position was first created.
Citizens wanting to contact Officer Reid with an invitation to a community meeting, a question or a concern can call her office, 615-862-7822.
