Miss Southern Country Pageant to benefit Chattanooga CARES and PLWA


Southern Country Chattanooga (SCC) will host a benefit pageant for Chattanooga CARES at Chuck’s II, 27 West Main Street in Chattanooga, on Thursday, March 15, at 9:00 p.m.

All tips and proceeds from the “Green with Envy” pageant will benefit Chattanooga CARES and People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWA).

The winner of the Miss Southern Country 2007 will receive:

  • A crown, winner’s certificate, $100.00 cash prize and a free membership to SCC for 2007.

The first runner up will receive:

  • Winner’s certificate, $25.00 cash prize and a free membership to SCC for 2007.

The second runner up will receive:

  • Winner’s certificate and a free membership to SCC for 2007.

There will be a $25 application fee and all contestants and backup dancers must be at least 21 years of age. State issued identification will be required at the time of registration.

Southern Country Chattanooga was organized in the late 1980s. SCC was established to promote country/western dancing in the gay/lesbian community and to provide support and assistance to the community by making contributions to agencies such as Chattanooga CARES and to individuals in need of help. To date SCC has contributed over $160,000 to PLWA.

Southern Country Chattanooga is a member of the International Association of Gay/Lesbian Country Western Dance Clubs and is the oldest existing club in the organization.
