Mario Lopez will host this year’s Miss America pageant in Las Vegas.

Country Music Television officials in Nashville Wednesday announced the pageant will be at the Aladdin Resort and Casino on the strip in Las Vegas. The pageant twill air live on Jan. 29

Lopez showed he can dance on A-B-C’s "Dancing with the Stars." The 33-year-old actor was first known for his role as a teenager in "Saved by the Bell."

Lopez is popular with the gay community. In his first gay movie role, "Breaking the Surface – The Greg Louganis Story." Lopez played Olympic Gold Medalist, Greg Louganis. The movie received critical acclaim, propelling Lopez towards numerous other projects. He’s also appeared as a  gay character on Nip/Tuck’s new season that debuted Fall 2006.

CMT executive producer Sarah Brock says show producers were excited about Lopez’s popularity, previous pageant hosting experience and "undeniable charm."

Judges for the 2007 competition include Debbie Allen, Nigel Barker, Delta Burke, Michael Feinstein, Chris Matthews and Miss America 1981 Susan Powell.
