Set Me Free, Jennifer Knapp’s sixth studio album – and first release on Ani DiFranco’s Righteous Babe Records – is a compelling collection of Knapp’s latest earthy, folk-rock narratives.  Although she lost some listeners after coming out as a lesbian in 2010, JK’s faithful followers – both old and new – demonstrated their fervent support by funding the record through a PledgeMusic campaign.

On Set Me Free, the seasoned singer/songwriter delivers her trademark Melissa Etheridge-meets-Natalie Merchant sound, plus a swoony cover of Anita Baker’s “Sweet Love,” crooning as if she were k.d. lang’s Kansas cousin.

Fans of Etheridge, Merchant, Brandi Carlile and Tracy Chapman won’t be disappointed.
