Holy Community Trinity Church, located at 700 Bresslyn in West Meade, will celebrate its ninth anniversary on October 23 with a worship service on the grounds at 11:45 a.m. followed by a potluck fellowship.
This year’s Homecoming theme, “Stepping Into Our Future,” applies not only to the church’s vision for its future, but also serves as a reminder of how in1996, a woman who was already looking ahead, saw a need in the community for a safe place where all could worship without fear of condemnation. Over the course of the next nine years, that woman, Reverend Cynthia Andrews-Looper, turned a twenty-five member weekly Bible study group into a nondenominational, Christian-affirming church of nearly 250 people.
To meet the needs of an expanding community, Holy Trinity Community Church offers two services on Sunday, Sunday school, weekly Bible study, and a Children’s Church. Moving toward tomorrow, Reverend Andrews-Looper expects the congregation’s growth to continue to increase and has plans in place for youth ministries, single and family ministries, a counseling center, and a home for AIDS patients.
