Tired of seeing only the same men on the same apps? Sick of dealing with bots? Want a new app that is geared towards bears and their admirers?
Well, then, do I have an app for you! Billed as “the next generation in gay social networking app, designed specifically for and by the gay bear community,” the app “W | Bear: Gay Bear’s Chat App” from gNetLabs seems to live up to its description.
On first glance, “W | Bear” works like a cross between Instagram and Grindr. Users post pictures and videos, which show up in both the local and world feeds. Users can then like and comment on the pictures.
You can also go to the user’s profile and send them a message, or follow them so that they show up in your “Following Feed” anytime they post something new. Feeling a little more scandalous? You can add pictures and videos to your private album which people can request to view.
Now, if you are someone who knows what you want and is determined to find it, you can narrow your local results by adding in hashtags to filter your results and find that perfect someone. You can also search by distance locally if you’re not into that long-distance-relationship life.
PROS & CONS
- The app is billed towards being an inclusive community and on the surface level they seem to follow through (time shall tell though).
- No bots!
- Something new and different.
- The app is still in its early stages and has its bugs.
- Since it is new there aren’t as many users as some of the other major apps.
All in all, “W | Bear” seems to be a well built app that has a refreshingly new take on the gay social app model. Why don’t you download it and give it a try? You might find me on there!
