More about Ani and her tour…

Ani DiFranco is getting back on the bus with long-time bassist Todd Sickafoose and drummer Allison Miller, for the second leg of her 2008 Way Better Places tour. Opening for DiFranco on these dates will be Over The Rhine, the Ohio-based folk-pop duo of Lindford Detweiler and Karin Bergquist.
Meanwhile, Ani and the band, including vibist/percussion Mike Dillon, are in her New Orleans studio laying down tracks for a new project slated for release later this year. This album of all-new material follows her first-ever double-disc retrospective album (Canon, released September 2007) and debut book of poems and original artwork (Verses).

The Way Better Places tour takes its name from a new song slated for DiFranco’s next album.  Upcoming dates include:
3/7 – 40 Watt Club – Athens, GA
3/9 – Langerado Festival – Everglades Park, FL
3/11 – Tampa Theatre – Tampa, FL
3/12 – Freebird Live – Jacksonsville, FL
3/14 – The Ryman – Nashville, TN
3/15 – Workplay Soundstage – Birmingham, AL
3/16 – House of Blues – New Orleans, LA
Ani and friends next head out west for a slew of April concerts. A new live concert DVD, Live at Babeville, will see release on April 1.

While in Nashville, Ani also will discuss her new book Verses at Davis-Kidd Booksellers in the Green Hills Mall on Friday, March 14, at 1 p.m.
