Voting ends in Gay Favorites contest

Voting has ended for the second annual Out & About Newspaper Gay Favorites contest, with more than 1,000 ballots cast.

O&AN staff members will spend the next month tabulating the results and announce the winners in live ceremonies in Nashville and Knoxville in October. All winners will be announced in the October issue of Out & About Newspaper, and the public is invited to attend one of the live ceremonies and award presentations – one will be held in Nashville at Play Dance Club on Monday, October 3, 2005, from 6 to 8 p.m. and the other in Knoxville at Club XYZ on October 7, 2005 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The contest is also a celebration of O&AN’s third birthday. The newspaper published its first issue in October 2002 and has grown from a monthly circulation of 6,000 to 12,000 and now provides distribution at more than 150 sites across Tennessee, Southern Kentucky and Northern Alabama.

“We have proudly reported the news, happenings, events, history and impact of the GLBT community in Nashville and Knoxville for three years and we are inviting our readers to our anniversary party to help us celebrate,” said A.J. Busé, special projects editor for O&AN.
