Tribe/Suzy Wong’s House of Yum has become the first establishment issued a "limited service license" under the new liquor law passed earlier this year. The law allows bars, clubs and other venues to be legitimately licensed by the ABC as a limited service restaurant.
Will Cheek, lead lawyer of the alcoholic beverage team at Nashville firm Bone McAllester Norton PLLC, announced the news on his blog yesterday. This is the first time since before prohibition that the state has legitimately issued a liquor license to a bar. Previously, bars were required to report food sales as being more than 50% of gross revenue, even if a majority of income came from their alcohol service.
