Tennessee’s first male strip club closes

Arrow Nashville, Tennessee’s only male strip club, is closing its doors this week after 15 months in business.

In a statement on Arrow’s Facebook page, management says that they were unable to lease the building, located on Peabody and 5th Ave., beyond 2010.

From the statement:

"We want to thank (our patrons) for their support in the last year and a half. You all are amazing. Sorry we had to close so suddenly, but we were not able to renegotiate our lease in a manner that would allow us to keep serving you."

As a pioneer in its field, Arrow drew criticism from community leaders when it began operation in September 2009. Despite protests from more conservative parties, the establishment became a popular entertainment venue in the downtown area. Arrow was named best strip club in Nashville in last fall’s Nashville Scene readers’ poll.
