Tennessee Equality Project has announced its annual Mardi Gras party and this year’s first gumbo tasting competition, hosted by popular  Memphis entertainment venue Hi-Tone. The event will be held on Sunday, Feb. 20 from 4:30-7 p.m.

The ingredients of gumbo are as diverse as the LGBT and allied community and the organization will celebrate this in Mardi Gras style. Funds raised in the competition will benefit TEP to advance and protect the equality of GLBT people and their allies. Admission for gumbo tasting at the event will be $10.

The competition will be judged by professional chefs, restaurateurs, foodies, and other public figures in the Memphis area. Deadline for entry into the contest is Saturday, Feb. 12. For entry forms or more information, access the TEP website.
