After more than two years of planning and research, a piece of historic Charleston has come to Nashville.
Nestled across from the beautiful Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art in Belle Meade, the home at 628 Belle Park Circle is the product of D.L. Smith Construction.
Debra Smith, owner of D.L. Smith Construction, and her partner Toni Pack, went to Charleston, S.C., to review and research Charleston homes so that the home she built would have original Charleston style and charm.
With a price tag of just under $1.5 million, the home is available for immediate occupancy and exudes Southern charm.
“This home is true to the character of historic Charleston. The detail in the home includes old growth heart pine flooring, abundant trim, molding, wainscoting and ceiling medallions you expect in a modern day re-creation of an 18th century home,” Smith explained. “The exterior features a salvaged brick facade, limestone bands and window sills on the front of the home and maintenance-free Tendura tongue-in-groove porch flooring with Fypon balustrades.”
Even the smallest detail has been made a priority. For instance, the foundation vents are made of wrought iron and the entire home has been wired for high-speed internet access.
Smith, who is well-known throughout Middle Tennessee as one of the area’s best respected high-end custom home builder, said this was the first time she had built a Charleston-style home, and is pleased with the results.
“It is a beautiful home and well-suited for any type of family,” she said. “The living room fireplace is surrounded by honey onyx. The kitchen features a full line of DCS appliances including an icemaker and wine cooler. The stove has five burners and a griddle. There are two drawer dishwashers as well.”
D. L. Smith Construction has been a leading name in custom homes since Smith started the company in 1994.
“It takes a little more than just stone, brick and wood to create a home,” Smith said. “It takes a passionate builder who understands your needs and is willing to earn your trust.”
It’s clear that her passion for style and beauty went into this home. With easy access to any of the three floors via an elevator, the owner’s suite is located on the first floor. On the second floor, there are four bedrooms, and a work/study area. There is also a morning bar with a sink, microwave and wine cooler/refrigerator that serves all the bedrooms. The third floor has a large media room, and a cork-floored exercise room with a full bath and four-person sauna.
Even the garage has special features built in.
“The garage ceiling and door raise high enough to install the pre-wired car lift to accommodate a third car,” Smith said.
Debbie Evenchik and Rochelle Broome, M.D., read about D. L. Smith Construction in Out & About Newspaper when they were considering relocating from Ohio to Tennessee. After meeting with Smith to discuss their new home plans, they were sold on her commitment to build a quality custom home.
“Debra worked for us, and with us, to build exactly the home we wanted,” Broome said. “Debra was building for us long distance, for the first several months we were still living in another city. She made the process go with ease, from helping with the plans to the finished product. If we were to build again, Debra would be our only choice in builders.”
Evenchik and Broome built their new home in the Temple Hills area in Williamson County.
