The Davidson County Assessor of Property has established a September 1 deadline for property owners who suffered damages in the May flood to apply for a reduction in the assessment of their properties.
Any building or improvement that was damaged by more than 50% of its pre-flood value or was rendered unfit for use or occupancy for more than 30 days may qualify. Pending approval from Metro Council, this program may also apply to tangible business personal property, and business owners must also apply by September 1.
Information is available at the Assessor of Property website, and owners are encouraged to complete the online 2010 Realty Flood Prorate Review form to speed up the process. Individuals may call (615) 862-6059 for assistance in completing the review request form. The form, which is included in the mailing, may be completed and mailed to the Assessor of Property Office, c/o Flood Probate, 800 2nd Ave E Ste. 1, Nashville TN 37201-1083.
To further assist individuals who are seeking assistance, George Rooker, Jr., Assessor of Property, is available for on-camera, telephone and press interviews this week.
