Out in America has announced its acquisition of Outword Magazine, a merger which will allow Out in America to expand its print publications to the West Coast.
Based in Sacramento, Calif., under the direction of Publisher Fred Palmer, the award-winning publication has grown to become the largest circulation-based paper in Northern California with roots going back to 1987. It now reaches more than 87,000 readers all over Northern California.
Together with Outword Magazine and the recently acquired EXP Magazine brand, Out in America’s print division now stretches from coast to coast.

Palmer, who lives full time in Sacramento with his partner, will be named vice president, western region.
"I am excited about the synergies that this merger represents for our clients, staff, and our community," Palmer said. "I believe that the combined talents, and years of experience of Out in America and Outword Magazine, will create many new opportunities and exposure, with the ability to provide up-to- date news, entertainment and political information."
Palmer said, "by combining the efforts and exposure of internet capability with traditional print media, the corporation will now have a cohesiveness that will help further the LGBT community’s goals in its push for equality."
