Hugh Granvel Bland Jr.

Died on his 77th birthday while fulfilling his civic duty as an official in the primary election. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Granvel Bland, Sr. and Anna Huddleston Bland. He attended Dan Mills School and was a graduate of Isaac Litton High School. He then attended David Lipscomb College and graduated from Vanderbilt School of Law, where he was a member of Sigma Chi. He was employed by Travelers Insurance Company as a claims adjustor in Nashville and Birmingham. Following his retirement in 1986, he returned to Nashville residing in his childhood home, which he renovated. His many interests included traveling, gourmet dining, and entertaining his many friends. A lover of history, he was an avid scholar of the Confederacy. He was a long time member of the Church of Christ, and active in the Lindsley Avenue Church. His family and many friends will sadly miss him. Interment at Spring Hill Cemetery.
Died in Nashville on May 5, 2006.
One of Clyde’s surviving children, Mike Robinson, is a senior photographer for “O&AN.”
