New Metro Nashville Softball Association team forms

The Nashville Fusion, a newly formed softball team in the Metro Nashville Softball Association, started its 2008 season with the Southern Shootout softball tournament in Birmingham, Alabama. The team finished seventh out of 15 teams from around the United States and came in third after the round robin portion of the tournament.

"This is exceptional. I’ve never seen a newly formed team play so well together so soon, it’s like we’ve been together for years," noted head coach Joshua Baker.

The 2008 league season began on Sunday, April 13. The Nashville Fusion played two games that day, and won both. The team also plans on attending the upcoming Hotlanta Softball Tournament in Atlanta, the MNSA Classic in Nashville and the Memphis Blues Bash softball tournament. The team is sponsored by the Nashville Airport Radisson Hotel.

"The Radisson has been so generous to the team, thanks in a large part to General Manager J.R. Reynolds, without whom it would not be possible to attend these tournaments and help represent Nashville’s GLBT community," Baker added.

The Nashville Fusion play all their league games at West Park, which is located off White Bridge Road in West Nashville, on Sundays. The season schedule is as follows:

  • Sunday, April 27
  • Sunday, May 4
  • Sunday, May 18
