After years of being in business, Tower Records stores across the nation will soon be closing.  An unexpected replacement will move into the West End Avenue location.

Tower Records made a name for themselves, carrying CD’s that couldn’t be found anywhere else.

Intense competition from discount chains caught up with Tower Records. They recently filed for bankruptcy. All of their stores, including the West End location and the Opry Mills location close in mid-December.

National music store chain FYE will move into Tower’s old digs on West End.

FYE will take another stab at the record-selling business. FYE has survived while others like Tower have disappeared over the years.

More than a dozen employees at Tower Records are set to lose their jobs. FYE will be reaching out to those folks.

The New FYE store on West End opens in February.

The FYE music chain already has stores at RiverGate Mall and in Bowling Green.
