Nashville softball teams compete in Florida

The North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance recently held its 30th Anniversary World Series in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, August 14-19. There were over 160 teams from the United States and Canada.

Nashville (Music City Softball League) sent four teams: Lipstick Lounge (female team), The Nashville Shock (D-level Men), The Nashville Tribe (C-Level Men) and Nashville Avalanche (B-level team).

The Nashville Tribe went all the way in their 41-team C-division to win the championship.

After the qualifying round robins, The Nashville Tribe was placed as the 21st seed after going 1-1 in a tie due to rain.

During the double elimination tournament, The Nashville Tribe got into their groove while singing one of their cheers, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” They began by defeating Birmingham, then rolled over teams from Virginia, Memphis, Atlanta, Dallas, Tampa and met up again with Memphis in the title game. The final score of the title game was 19-7. This is Nashville’s first World Series Championship.
