Nashville Shakespeare Festival opens 2011 campaign

The Nashville Shakespeare Festival begins its 2011 campaign with its fourth annual Winter Shakespeare production at Belmont University’s Troutt Theater.

Accused of being boring, confusing and irrelevant, William Shakespeare must defend his place in the contemporary classroom and culture. The audiences acts as the jury in this 21st Century courtroom where Mr. Shakespeare must bring all of his wit, wisdom and theatrical magic to bear in the fight for his artistic life. Referencing 27 of Shakespeare’s plays in all, Shakespeare’s Case is a humorous and informative introduction to Shakespeare’s works for all ages, as well as a delight for avid fans of the legendary playwright.

This production is funded in part by the Metro Nashville Arts Commission and the Tennessee Arts Commission. Performances are at Troutt Theater on the campus of Belmont University. Dates are January 13 – 30, 2011; 7:30 p.m. Thursdays – Saturdays & 2:30 p.m. Sundays.
