Nashville Pride turns Blu


Club Blu and its sister establishment Blue Genes will be the site of two new events being held in conjunction to this year’s PrideFest.
Blue Genes (1715 Church Street) will serve as the host of the first ever, Queeroke singing competition.  Sponsored by Bud Light, Radisson Hotel Nashville Airport and Out & About Newspaper beginning at 8 p.m., Friday, May 18, this event will serve as a fundraiser for Nashville Pride but more importantly the winner of Queeroke will have the opportunity to perform on the Main Stage at the upcoming PrideFest to be held Saturday, June 2 in Centennial Park.  
The event is $10 and includes unlimited Bud Light. The entry fee for Queeroke is $5 per song.  All money raised will be donated to Nashville Pride.
A second event, this one having its premiere at Club Blu, will also be introduced to the GLBT as part of the week long Pride Week festivities.
“One of Nashville Pride’s major goals is to create new ways to bring the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender community of Nashville closer together,” says Jeanna Emert, vice president of Nashville Pride. “Each event we have is done in the hopes that the community will become more involved.  That is why I am especially thrilled to be presenting a new event just for women, ‘Calling All Women’.”   
“Calling All Women,” will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, and will be held at Club Blu (1713 Church Street). This night of food, fun and drinks serves as both a social and networking event for the ever growing Nashville lesbian population.  It will also serve as a forum for attendees to meet and discuss the topics that make an impact on their lives.
“The Nashville Pride Board would like to thank both Gene Sessa and Will Pulley for their continued support of Nashville Pride.  We are very excited to premiere these events at their venues and we hope to be able to utilize these great establishments in the future,” says Pride President Todd Grantham.
