Could there be a better combination than community service and showtunes? We're not quite sure so we'll throw on our top hat when Broadway meets Music City Monday, May 20 at Play Dance Bar for a benefit that will surely deserve an encore.
Nashville CARES, which offers services annually to more than 60,000 Middle Tennesseans infected and affected by HIV/AIDS, has teamed up with TPAC, O&AN, Hotel Indigo and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, one of the nation's leading industry-based HIV/AIDS fundraising and grant-making organizations, for a night of singalongs featuring cast members from Disney's The Lion King currently playing at TPAC.
Entertainment includes Emmy Award Nominated-actress Bobbie Eakes. Best known for her daytime roles on The Bold and the Beautiful (Macy Alexander) and All My Children (Krystal Carey), Eakes has enjoyed a successful singing and movie career.
In addition, The Lion Sings Tonight will feature Broadway star Alton Fitzgerald White from Ragtime, The Lion King and The Color Purple.
