More protests scheduled to fight marriage inequality

The people behind have scheduled another nationwide event in protest of the passing of California’s Proposition 8 which banned same-sex marriages in that state in November.

In Nashville, there will be a candle light vigil held at the Riverfront Park on Saturday, Dec. 20, at 5 p.m. to keep the issue of marriage equality for GLBT people in minds and headlines across the country.

"This will be a quiet, peaceful vigil not involving signs or chanting," said George Oeser, a member of Nashville’s Impact! Equality and a coordinator of the event. "We might sing a few Christmas carols and such, but we really plan on letting our presence and the light of our candles do the talking for us."

Participants are asked to bring their own candles. Riverfront Park is located at 100 1st Ave. N. and S.
