Local gay rodeo association wins second consecutive international award

At its recent annual convention in Kansas City, Missouri, the International Gay Rodeo Association (IGRA) presented its prestigious IGRA Media Award to Smoky Mountain Rodeo Association (SMRA) for the second consecutive year.

The IGRA Media Award is presented to a member association that has made significant contributions through the use of its publications by demonstrating excellence in promoting gay rodeo, IGRA, and the Member Association. SMRA, who was recently granted 501(c)3 tax-exempt status by the Internal Revenue Service, uses its Website and monthly e-newsletter to distribute informative and educational information related to gay rodeo and the associations charitable work.

SMRA is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that promotes education and enjoyment of the western lifestyle and the production of fundraising events within the commitment to raise funds for charitable organizations within our community. Since its inception, SMRA has raised and distributed funds for organizations that care for and seek cures for those living with HIV/AIDS, as well as Children’s Services, Animal Welfare and other organizations that focus on social issues within our society as a whole. Visit www.smra.net to learn more about the Smoky Mountain Rodeo Association.
