Knoxville PrideFest 2012 to take place this Saturday


Knoxville Pridefest 2012Knoxville will host PrideFest 2012 this Saturday, June 23, on Market Square from 4-10 p.m. Throughout the event, vendors will display information about their organization or business and selling merchandise to the community to promote equality for GLBT citizens of Knoxville and surrounding areas.

The pride parade will take place before the festival opens at 3 p.m. The parade will setup on State Street Lot and end at Market Square. Vehicles in the parade will not be able to turn onto Wall Avenue but merge with normal traffic on Gay Street.

History will be made this year in Knoxville with a mass commitment ceremony. Couples can sign-up online to make a new commitment or renewal with others participating in the ceremony.

The entertainers this year are Taylor Dayne, God-Des and She, Karen E. Reynolds, Heyday Revival, Hudson K, Knoxville Opera, Nikki Talley, Metropolitan Community Church Choir, Heather Maples, Kate Oliver, Oona Love, Stephen Hannah, Colby Inman, Acoustic S and M, Knoxville Gay Men’s Chorus, Brooklyn Nasty, Mama Harper and Diana Hart.
