Drag Magician Cashetta to Perform at Play

Play Dance Bar is pleased to announce that Scott Weston, aka “Cashetta,” will perform two drag-tacular magic shows at Play on Friday, February 10th. After taking the New York Drag scene by storm in the early 90’s as a club favorite and headliner of Wigstock (since 1996,) Cashetta wanted to do something different. “I had been interested in magic as a kid, and I realized that there was not a drag magician anywhere.” So she packed up her bags and moved to the magic capital of the world, Las Vegas. “In the beginning it was like learning another language,” she says. And eventually her hard work paid off. Cashetta has transformed herself into a mistress of magic. “When I present myself as a drag magician, it stops people in their tracks because they have never heard of that before,” Cashetta explains. “I started showcasing my new act at smaller New York clubs. Eventually I was playing Caroline’s on Broadway.” Cruise ships, television spots and appearances in Europe and Australia followed.

Cashetta says that her favorite part of the magic show is interaction with the audience. She always pulls people on stage, but never to humiliate them. One lucky audience member is always turned into a drag magician, complete with Cashetta hair and coat. And that audience member will perform a trick of his or her own.

She has also appeared on HBO’s “Drag Time,” “Law & Order,” “The Today Show,” and “Late Night with Conan O’Brien.”

Show times are 8:30 and 10 pm. The show costs $10, which includes admission to Play for the night.
