Comedian Kevin Thornton returns to Nashville

Fans of comedian and former Nashville resident Kevin Thornton are in luck. The bawdy entertainer will play Bongo After Hours Theatre on St. Patrick’s Day.

Thornton last entertained Nashville crowds with a rowdy performance last November at Play Dance Bar. His March 17 show features material from his new Fringe Festival show which makes its debut at the New York Fringe Festival this month. Thornton, frontman for the pop band Waves on Waves, will also include songs from his award winning album Had A Sword and new music from his upcoming release currently being produced by Nashville’s Marc Chevalier. Tickets are on sale now for $15 at

Thornton first drew national notice with his 2009 show "Sex, Dreams & Self Control," a comedy tour that caught the attention of the Los Angeles Times and NPR’s All Things Considered.  After spending a year in the Los Angeles stand-up comedy scene (where he won “New Faces Night” at The World Famous Comedy Store in Hollywood), Thornton returns to the road in 2011 to perform this new piece.

Thornton is also a multimedia staple. He’s created a podcast where he does interviews with people he meets along the way called “Strange Dreamz with Kevin J Thornton.” Thornton also has an active blog, and has created a brand new business blog with manager Carol Buttenham. Thornton and Buttenham discuss their insights on the entertainment business and what has worked for them creating the Kevin J Thornton brand, touring and being successful through social media at
