Chattanooga invades Atlanta Pride Parade

Chattanooga was well represented in the Sunday, June 25 Atlanta Pride Parade, with flag carriers, a Lookout Bears float, and two floats from Tennessee Valley Pride.

This is the first time the organizations have been represented in Atlanta’s parade. Both hope to boost awareness of the organizations, as a large number of southeast Tennessee residents flock to the weekend-long Atlanta event.

The flag measured 40 feet in width and over 100 feet in length. Members of our area church groups, pride committee members, Lookout Bears, and representatives from Images, Alan Gold’s, and Chucks II helped carry it.

“We hope to get some of our locals interested in our organizations, and maybe even attract some people from Atlanta to participate in our organizations and their events,” states Mike Rice, TVP President, referring to their upcoming Fall event to be held October 1, 2006, at Camp Jordan Park. TVP also sponsors a Winter Formal Prom on the riverboat coming up in December.
