Perhaps best known for her clubland favorites “Gypsy Woman” and “100% Pure Love,” Crystal Waters has been a favorite of dance culture since the early
Nineties. Scheduled to perform at this year’s Pride Festival in Centennial Park on June 4, Crystal Waters took time out of her busy schedule to speak to “O&AN” in a brief phone interview.
OAN: There are a lot of people who are excited about seeing you perform here. Do you perform at many Pride festivals?
CW: I just got done with one in Phoenix , and I’m booked up until July with Gay Pride Festivals around the country. They are so much fun to do. They are usually the best crowds that I have. Plus, I get to perform during the day usually.
OAN: Have you done any recording recently and when can we rush out to the stores and snag up a copy?
CW: I’m in the studio now working on a project. I hope by the end of the summer to have something out. I spend most of my time in New York recording and perform at the festivals during the weekend.
OAN: Have you been to Nashville before?
CW: It’s been a while. The last time I was there was when Princess Diana died. We were riding in a cab and heard about it on the radio. I hope to be able to visit a bit. I’m just so busy that it’s hard for me to make time sometimes..
OAN: Do you ever see yourself doing anything other than entertaining?
CW: I’m not really qualified to do too much other than entertain. I’ve been doing it so long that I don’t think I’d know what to do with myself if I didn’t do it.
